my little pony party

When my daughter asked me ifcshe could have a "regular" party I had to ask her to clarify. Turns out she wanted a small party with a pinata, a pin the tail game and just plain playing! Wecheld her My Little Pony party last week. I didn't have a lot of time to plan so the simple theme worked well. I took advantage of all the commercial goods out there and went to town! The kids played, had an unicorn pinata and a pin the cutie mark on the pony game. I also used a face painting kit I had to paint cutie marks on their faces and there was a little craft I picked up for next to nothing at Michael's. The coup de tat was finding candy eyes, triangle and oval shaped candies in the cake decorating aisle! I decided the kids could decorate cupcakes like pony faces! It was such a hit and I saved a lot of money by making cupcakes myself. Check out the pictures!

My daughter is set on having a my little pony party. With my oldest daughter going off to college within 2 weeks of the younger daughters party I had planned on not doing much this year. However, I have changed plans. We I am throwing a very small party and with only a week left, I intend to keep it simple. Thankfully there are a lot of commercially available items for this theme. Activities will include a pinata, a pin the tail game, and making caramel apples. I plan giving the guests cutie marks too. The rest of the time will be spent playing. Stay tuned for photos. I am anxious to see how this comes together in a week's time!

Back to nature....

I am dreaming up nature themed parties. I had the thought when I was visiting a local wildlife preserve. There are so concepts that would be suitable for both boys and girls. I am looking forward to working on a party!

Spring party themes

There are so many things to do for a springtime event. Focus on a favorite color, insects in general, a specific bug like a lady bug, or butterfly, flowers, or gardens are all things tbat could be chosen as a theme.

Wrestling theme party

Host a wrestling themed party that includes arm and thumb wrestling. Other activities can include making a belt, sock wrestling, and a game with balloons.

Neither rain, nor sleet, nor snow...

Several guests came out to Portsmouth on Saturday to enjoy C's 6th birhday in spite of the snow Friday night. We had a great time at Party's EZ's signature tea party hosted by the birthday's girl's parents. Thanks to all involved! Next week will explore a wrestling theme party for a boy's event.

A new year and a new outlook...

2013 will find Party EZ emphazing a "economy" party package. Changing the look of the home birthday party one party at time" is our new outlook. The economy has been bad for so long now and there looks to be little relief in 2013. It's unfortunate, but we will all need to tighten our belts a little more and a little longer. Party EZ is emphasizing budget friendly services for 2013. While we were always willing to work with you on the budget, our time is short in supply + valuable to us, our clients, and our families. Also, supplies do cost us! So please keep that in mind when working with us. We can do a lot for you, but we can't perform miracles. Services and entertainment from outside vendors will cost additional amounts of money. Party EZ can help to search for the best price for you. Party EZ will be focusing on bringing you that little extra help in planning, procuring supplies, decorating, and hostessing, and in general planning your child's event. We'll spend a lot of this year re-visiting the tried and true "old fashioned" party games and activities (with a twist if needed)that we enjoyed as children. This can greatly reduce the cost of the party and still be a lot of fun for the kids. It's easy for some to lose track of the fact that letting the kids have their fun is the important thing. Party EZ always keeps that in mind! We know it's hard to handle a party all by yourself, but very expensive to have an all inclusive party away from home or to hire full blown party planing services! However, at Party EZ, we'll even be glad to have you enlist our help to work alongside you at your child's event. .... And reminder, we're "pros" at throwing parties and can coordinate things quickly which is a cost and time saving feature. We're looking forward to doing business with you in 2013. Please call us to discuss costs, party plans, etc.

Russian doll themed tea party

I've decided to offer a Russian themed tea party including a themed craft activity. Please contact party ez if interested.

Older Girls Party Idea

I saw a party where Charming Charlie's allowed someone to have a party at their store. They allowed a small table for finger foods and cake to be set up and the girls were able to try accessories on and model them. The guests were given a small discount for purchasing the items and the host gave each girl a small gift certificate to the store so that they could purchase something. This was the party favor. It was a cute idea. It would work well at For Love /Forever 21 too. I would suggest checking with your local store's manager to see if it is something they would accomodate. Offer a small payment.

Haven't written in awhile....

I've been working hard to think of a very unique, special theme and nothing is jumping out at me. I've noticed glow in the dark parties are becoming popular, but I can't think of any really original idea in regards to one. Well... sometimes you just have to wait until inspiration hits you! I'll post when it does!

Angry birds party game

This weekend I saw a group make an angry birds party game that was a real winner with the crowds. They put several different sized angry birds plush animals on various sized empty cardboard boxes and then gave the party goer some bean bags to throw at the animals in an attempt to knock them over. This great idea could be adapted to another theme as well.

Bubble theme party

There are so many fun and inexpensive things to do with this theme. Now is the time to start purchase bubble machines and toys for a party that will be held next summer or fall. These toys are deeply discounted in the summer toy aisles. Use your imagination and turn this theme into a Squinkies party. After all, they come in little bubble packs. Don't take the bubble theme so literally and see what other ideas can be incorporated. Call Party Ez to plan and host your child's bubble or Squinkies themed bubble party.

Farm themed party

Take advantage of this beautiful fall weather and hold a farmed themed party. It doesn't need to be complex or include a hired petting farm/zoo. Keep things rustic looking and simple. Country decor can be used. Red checked tablecloths, straw hats, wagons, stuffed farm animals, straw bales, and shovels can be used to set the scene. Bob for apples, have a candied apple bar/buffet, play pin the tail on the donkey, duck, duck goose, and a game of tag that you can call corraling the animals or something related to the theme. Another thought is to loosen a bale of straw and hide prizes in it. Tell the kids they are looking for a needle in a haystack. This would be an action packed party that would be fun and very inexpensive. Call Party ez of Hampton Roads to help you with your event!

Airplane Themed Party

I have found that the Military Aviation Museum in Virginia Beach rents their facility and will even have flight performances for specials events. I have not made contact with them yet to determine if they would consider a child's birthday party, but I think this would be a great setting for your little aviator's party. You could consider a trip to the museum and flight simulator or visit during one of their scheduled air shows as a party activity if you are not able to hold the party at the museum. Their admission fees are reasonable.

Care Bears seem to be making a comeback. You can incorporate rainbow and cloud themed items into your care bear party.

Tattoo theme party?

I've been wondering if a tattoo theme party would he an unique theme for tweens and teens or if it would too risque'. I think creating a party around temporary tattoos of some sort would he great for older kids and I am a relatively conservative person. I'd love to hear Others thoughts on this theme!

Another successful event!

A great time was had by all at S's party this weekend! It was the Party EZ Barbie Design Studio theme with a few extras. The children decorated their t-shirt tunics, a doll dress, sunglasses, and sunglass carrying case, danced, hula hooped, and played dress up during a "free play" time. I love incorporating some free play into parties for the younger kids as it is a means to let some energy out and just enjoy each other's company. Since this was an afternoon party buffet table including punch, cheese and crackers, marshmallows, pretzels, graham crackers, bananas, and strawberries for dipping in chocolate. No actual meal was served.

Busy Summer!

I've been busy with all manner of things the last few weeks and haven't had much time to post. I should be posting more regularly once summer is over. I've been spending a lot time preparing for my daughter's party next weekend. She's decided on a Barbie theme and I'm really excited about it. I'm incorporating the Barbie package listed on this site and a few extras. Stay tuned for the update!

Back to school parties

It's time to start thinking about back to school parties. Try a play on words for an original theme. A school of fish could give you an underwater theme to your party. Go for the traditional with apples, school supplies, and more expected decor and activities. Another idea is an unexpected plaid theme reminiscent of school uniforms. A pancake breakfast party is also a great idea for a back to school party. Put on your thinking caps or call party ez of Hampton Roads to host an original back to school hook party!

Places to hold a construction themed party

I've found that some Home Depot stores will allow you to hold a party at their stores. Most incorporate it into their weekly children's workshops, but some will hold it in another area or at another time. The best thing is that there is no charge as the workshop re free. Some will allow you to bring cake. Others will not allow food. No lit candles are allowed. Call your local stores to arrange the party.
